① In agriculture, o-chlorobenzaldehyde, also known as 2-chlorobenzaldehyde, is used to control mites on dry crops and fruit trees. It is a raw material for the synthesis of the acaricide clofentezine and can also be used to synthesize another new acaricide, flutenzine.
② It is used for the determination of sorbitol and in the preparation of triphenylmethane.
③ It is a zinc plating brightener and is primarily used as a raw material in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals such as o-chlorobenzylamine, o-chlorobenzyl chloride, and clofentezine sodium.
